Since the inception of this blog I have been looking forward to researching videos and articles that relate to mindfulness. Mindfulness is an intelligence, an emotional intelligence. It is something we aren't born with, or lucky enough to get through good genes. It is an awaking of the senses and it takes some work. Mindfulness by definition is the maintaining awareness of our thoughts, sensations, feelings, and moment by moment awareness. "Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future."(http://greatergood.berkeley.edu/topic/mindfulness/definition) Here's a video that I felt ties Peer Support and social support to mindfulness. I think its important to note that this is an educator discussing the value of teaching emotional intelligence. Something we need to listen empathetically, self manage, self regulate, and live a HAPPIER life!!
